County fair

This year Joseph chose to ride a sheep for the "Muttin Bustin"  event.  Here is a video.  I kind of lost him on the camera.  But he did alright.

Random summer pictures

One day  I found Orrin in the block tub eating his granola bar.  Pretty cute.

 

Who says a boy can't play in his mother's high heels?

This spring we found a lot of bird's nest and this one had eggs in it.  One thing I enjoy here are the birds.  There are a lot of birds out here on the plains.

We got an inch of rain and the boys had fun playing in the puddle.

Enjoying some s'mores.  Looks like we live out in the middle of no where!  Look at the horizon -you can't even see anything for miles.  Yep, we do live out in the middle of no where-or you can just call it the great plains of eastern Colorado.  (And yes, we do have a real cooking stove.  Just enjoying a little camp fire.)

And again having fun in the mud.  This is Orrin.  The boys were throwing rocks in a puddle of water in the fire pit.  Looks like Orrin lost.

We also had our neighbors goats over this summer to eat down some of the brush and grass to keep snakes away.  Don't know if it really helped, but we didn't see any snakes by the house and I felt a lot better letting the boys out to play if the goats were around running around the boys.  Besides, the boys loved the goats. 

My garden

Here are some pictures of my garden. 

 We had lots of yummy food in our garden this year.  The newest thing we planted and enjoyed were the watermelons and cantaloupes.  We planted, corn, squash, pumpkins, artichokes, onions, beans, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, potatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, lettuce, beets, and radishes.  it was lots of fun.

Here are the boys harvesting the corn.  It was yummy.  We got about 80 ears of corn.

Learning to ride a bike

This summer Shane taught the boys to ride bikes without training wheels.  It has been one of their favorite things to do this summer.

May 22 2013 Joseph Turns 4!

For Joseph's birthday he wanted to go on a family bike ride.  He got a new bike for his birthday.  We all went down to La Junta to the park and Shane helped the boys, (Andrew and Joseph)  learn how to ride their bikes without training wheels.  We were all very excited and happy for such a great accomplishment.  Joseph asked for a boot birthday cake. 

May 6th 2013 Andrew turns 5!

For Andrew's 5th  birthday he asked for some neighbor friends to come over and play.  We had Maggie and Shane Reid, and James and John Reimenschneider.  They had a lot of fun running around and being wild.  Andrew asked for a pair of new cowboy jeans and a rope.  He also got a watch and a box of Lucky Charm cereal (his favorite).  He also got lots of money from grandma and grandpa and Granny.
